Frequently asked questions.

  • Because each piece is handmade and often one-of-a-kind, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you’re unhappy with your order for any reason, please reach out via email or through our Contact page. The item must be returned within 30 days of purchase and must be in our possession before a refund is issued. The piece must be in its original condition, and return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer. We encourage you to carefully read the product descriptions and review all photos before making a purchase.

  • There is a photo in each listing that shows exactly how we measure each item. To ensure the best fit, we recommend finding a favorite piece of clothing that fits you well—button it up, lay it flat, and measure it following the diagram shown in the photo. This allows you to compare your measurements to ours and make a confident, informed decision before purchasing.

We understand this is an investment of your hard-earned money, so we want to provide you with all the right information to help you find the perfect fit for your body.

  • No, at this time Darnit, Darling is not offering custom jackets or other made-to-order goods. For any future updates, please follow @darnit.darling on Instagram. But for the foreseeable future—no customs.

  • Many of our pieces are made from vintage or pre-loved textiles, which means they may have small imperfections—like faint stains, fraying, or signs of age. We do our best to highlight any noticeable flaws in the product photos or descriptions. These little quirks are part of the story and charm of each item!

  • We currently offer $5 flat-rate shipping to customers in the contiguous U.S. (48 states). Please note that prices may vary in the future depending on shipping rate changes.

Orders are shipped in either a box (often repurposed!) or a padded envelope. Each item is carefully wrapped to ensure it arrives in great condition.

  • Orders are typically shipped within 72 hours, and almost always sooner! Since this isn’t my full-time job, I give myself a little wiggle room just in case life gets in the way—but I always aim to get your order out as quickly as possible.

  • To preserve the integrity of your vintage textile, we recommend hand washing only using a mild detergent and cold water. Avoid the washing machine and skip any harsh chemicals. After washing, gently hang your item to dry in a shaded area. Do not wring, twist, or tumble dry, as this can damage the fabric or distort its shape.

  • All fabric, blankets, and quilts are washed at least once—often twice—when first purchased. If they’re used months later, they’re washed again after being brought out of clean, safe storage. We use Arm & Hammer Clean & Simple along with a touch of Downy Rinse & Refresh Odor Eliminator to ensure everything is not only clean but also smells fresh and lovely.

  • Our materials are sourced from estate sales, thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales, antique malls, private collectors, and sometimes even gifted treasures. Hunting for the right textiles is a time-consuming (but joyful!) part of the process—we’re always looking for the best pieces to repurpose just for you.

All textiles are thoroughly laundered before use, no matter where they come from.
